Hemorrhage is the leading cause of preventable trauma death. It is estimated that bleeding control techniques can prevent as many as one in five trauma deaths.

To combat this epidemic, the White House National Security Council created the 'Stop the Bleed' campaign. The purpose of the campaign is to increase national awareness and resiliency by preparing the public to save lives. Knowledge is power when it comes to stopping life-threatening bleeding following tornadoes, earthquakes, power tool injuries, or, increasingly, an active-shooter/terrorist event.
Stop the Bleed was created in response to increased gun violence and mass casualty events in our country, and the White House and the Department of Homeland Security continue to work together in this life-saving endeavor.
